The field is geometric rather than floral, a precise, repeating lattice of hexagons, stars and diamonds worked in aged charcoal and warm slate across a sandy taupe ground. Where most antique Tabriz rugs of this period anchor the eye with a central medallion, this one offers no such resting point, the pattern moves continuously, edge to edge.
The surface carries a patina of its age with a low, worn pile and subtle abrash that shift with the light, deepening and lifting across the field. Structurally sound.Irreplaceable.
The border is just as considered as the field with layered bands of geometric and botanical forms running the full perimeter, with faint traces of seafoam threading through the earthy tones and lifting the whole palette.
